The last thing Jesus said was, "Surely, I come quickly." (Rev 22:20) He said, "A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father." (John 16:16) He said, "Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." (Mt 28:20)
When you look for Jesus, you see Him; when you watch for Him, you watch with Him: "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life." (John 8:12)
We have no choice, we have our orders, we must watch: "And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch." (Mark 13:37)
"Remember therefore how thou hast received and
heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I
will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will
come upon thee." (Re 3:3)
Watch an hour or more, and do not fall asleep: And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, "What,
could ye not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not
into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." (Mt 26:40-41)
Watching is a blessing: "Blessed
are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching:
verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them sit
down to meat, and shall come and serve them." (Lu 12:37)
